Britain’s HMS Daring Helping the Philippine Typhoon Victims

The British Royal Navy have already ordered the deployment of the Portsmouth warship HMS Daring and they are on full speed to reach the Philippines to deal with the aid and relief efforts of international organizations currently helping the Filipino people affected by super typhoon Haiyan.

The Britain’s amb(–foul word(s) removed–)ador to the Philippines Asif Ahmad relayed a message from the crew of the ship. The message, sent as HMS Daring sails from Malaysia towards the Philippines.

The Type 45 destroyer HMS Daring has a company of nearly 200 all of whom are trained in humanitarian disaster operations as well as casualty search teams and a large number of first aiders.

The British ship also carries a Royal Navy Chaplain, dentist, doctor, and engineers in a number of specializations as well as boat and air crews. Everyone of them is being prepared for disaster and they also play an important role in the m(–foul word(s) removed–)ive humanitarian relief project.

The crew of HMS Daring will augment the 12-strong team of British doctors, surgeons and paramedics that have already landed in Manila. The British government have already given more than £20 million to the Philippine relief efforts. The Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) from Great Britain also announced that its charity appeal has raised £23 million.

The British have also announced that once the HMS Daring will start its work, it will be replace by a more powerful ship, the HMS Illustrious, a carrier with helicopters which is seven times as many helicopters as on HMS Daring and with the ability to process fresh water.
