Barangay Elections 2013: Online Precinct Finder How to Use

The Commission on Elections advised the voting public and encouraged those registered voters to lives easier during the Barangay Election Day tomorrow, October 28, 2013 by finding their voting precincts online ahead of the nationwide Barangay polls.

COMELEC announced that the public can use its Precinct Finder System to check your current precinct through its official website. According to the poll body, the “Precinct Finder” already uses the latest voter database for the forthcoming 2013 Barangay Elections, as submitted by the local COMELEC offices nationwide,” said the Comelec.

In order to view the voters precinct number, you need to provide your Full Name and Date of Birth in order to find your precinct number. The system will provide the voter with the details on his/her voting center, precinct number, registration status, and even voter’s ID status.

However, the Comelec noted that precincts from five municipalities are still unavailable in the system. These municipalities are San Jose, Norther Samar; Basey, Samar; Parang, Sulu; Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte; and Bacolor, Pampanga.

The most common problems in every elections in the Philippines whether its manual or automated elections is in finding the precincts of registered voters. The Comelec hopes that with the advent of the internet, the voting public is now aware that they can search online their voting precincts.

Note: The only problems with the Online Precinct Finder is the difficulty of the COMELEC’s internet server in accommodating the huge influx of visitors. Hopefully the national government is aware of this problem.
