Mark Solis’ Stolen Photos Could Lose his UP Degree

The controversial UP Graduate School student, Mark Solis could lose his degree from the University of the Philippines after he was found guilty of stealing photos which he used in several contests as revealed a UP official on Friday, October 11, 2013.

Mark Solis was declared as the grand prize winner at the recently concluded Calidad Humana “Smiles for the World” contest organized by the Emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y of Chile, the photo he submitted turned our to be stolen from the Flickr account of John Gregory Smith of the Children at Risk Foundation.

The UP National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) also discovered that the picture was entered by Solis thrice in various photo competitions.

The controversial Filipino photographer Mark Solis have already apologized to the organizers of the contest that he entered with stolen photos but UP Students said that they were disappointed with Solis. Although the UP official have already made a statement regarding the findings, they still need to elevate their findings to the UP Diliman chancellor to determine the appropriate disciplinary action against Mark Solis.

Mark Solis graduated cum laude with a degree in Political Science and he enrolled and attended UP Graduate School last semester.
