UP Top Philippine University (QS World University Rankings Survey)

The country’s premier university, the University of the Philippines remains as the top higher education institution in the country, according to the latest survey results conducted by the QS University Rankings, which released its finding for 2013 on Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

The University of the Philippines (UP) ranked 67th among 300 Asian Universities surveyed, with 58.70 score, UP is followed by Ateneo de Manila University with 109 rankings and a 46.90 scores.

Following UP and Ateneo is the University of Sto. Tomas with a 150 ranking and a 39,90 score; De La Salle University (DLSU), is grouped among those with a 151 t0 160 ranking; and the University of Southeastern Philippines which is grouped among those with 251 to 300 rankings.

A total of not more than 800 universities were included in this year’s QS World University Rankings. According to QS World University Rankings. They were (–foul word(s) removed–)sed along six criteria:

  • academic reputation (40 percent, “based on a global survey of academics”);
  • employer reputation (10 percent, “based on a global survey of graduate employers”);
  • student-to-faculty ratio (20 percent, “an indication of commitment to teaching”);
  • citations per faculty (20 percent, “an indication of research impact”);
  • international faculty ratio (five percent, “measuring international diversity of the academic faculty”); and
  • international student ratio (five percent, “measuring international diversity of the student community”).

The Top three Universities in the world were M(–foul word(s) removed–)achusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University and Cambridge University. QS has been ranking higher education institutions since 2004.
