PBA Governors Cup August 14: GlobalPort vs. Air21, Rain or Shine vs. San Mig Coffee

The Philippine Basketball (–foul word(s) removed–)ociation (PBA) returns tonight as it starts the 2013 Governor’s Cup featuring a doubleheader at the Mall of Asia Arena with the GlobalPort tackling the Air21 at 5:15 PM and Rain or Shine battles against San Mig Coffee at 7:30 PM.

Both games will be aired over IBC-13 with broadcast beginning at 5:00 PM. The GlobalPort Batang Pier will feature Markeith Cummings as their first new import aside from featuring their newly-acquired locals Jay Washington and Yousef Taha.

The Air21 Express will showcased their import Zach Graham, one of the most prolific sharpshooter who once scored 51 points last season. In the main event of the PBA Governor’s Cup, the Elasto Painters will open up with their title defense against the San Mig Coffee Mixers.

The Rain or Shine will banner a familiar import in the person of Arizona Reid, he already suited up for Rain or Shine two years ago and won the tournament’s Best Import Award.

Coach Yeng Guiao of Elasto Painters will rely on their backups as their superstar players, Jeff Chan and Gabe Norwood are unlikely to see action just yet. The Gilas players will be given some rest by the management.

The San Mig Coffee Mixers will also feature a returning import, Marqus Blakely, he was the one who led the B-Meg Llamados to the finals agaisnt the Elasto Painters las season. Blakely is expected to soak up the minutes of San Mig Coffee’s Gilas player Marc Pingris, who was given rests by his management after a grueling stint in the FIBA Asia Championship.
