Gilas Pilipinas Defeated South Korea 86-79 Secured A Ticket to Spain 2014

The Gilas Pilipinas ended the Philippines drought of a finals appearance in FIBA Asia as they defeated the South Korean national team with the final score at 86-79 and secured a ticket to the FIBA World Championship to be held in the Spain this coming 2014.

Although the Philippines injured its top player, Marcus Douthit, the Philippine national men’s basketball team leaned on its fighting heart to prevail against the country’s worst nemesis, the South Koreans.

Gilas Pilipinas team captain Jimmy Alapag scored some of the most important points in the final seconds of the game. Aside from Jimmy, Ranidel de Ocampo also delivered some of the biggest baskets in the end game, while Marc Pingris, personafied the big fighting heart of the Filipinos winning the semi-finals victory of the Philippines against South Korea.

The Gilas Pilipinas will take on the last remaining undefeated team in the tournament, the two-time champion Iran, the team who defeated the Chinese Taipei with the final score at 79-50, in their semifinal matchup earlier in the day.
