The official results and highlights of the FIBA Asia 2013 Preliminary Round in Group A will be listed below after each game. The Philippines is bracketed with Chinese Taipei, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The Jordan basketball team, silver medalist of the 26th FIBA Asia will be playing without veteran Daghles, Wright and Abbas. Zaid Alkhas and Enver Soobzokov have also retired. They will field their naturalized player Jimmy Baxter.
Chinese Taipei will feature naturalized player Quincy Davis aside from their regular Lin “Beast” Chih-Chieh. The team will also field Doughlas Creighton and Tseng-Wen Ting. The Philippines is one of the top contenders in the competition with the experience gained by naturalized player Marcus Douthit and the support of world-renowned coach Tab Baldwin. The Saudi Arabian team on the other hand will serve as the dark horse in Group A that is also capable of causing an upset against the top three teams.
