Gilas Pilipinas Defeated PBA All Stars but Chot Reyes Wasn’t Impressed

The Gilas Pilipinas defeated the PBA All-Stars but national coach Chot Reyes was not impressed with his team’s performance although they routed the PBA Selection with the final score at 99-87.

The National Team is currently preparing for the FIBA Asia Championship which will be held in our home soil. The game against the PBA All Stars at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday July 24 earned an ire from Coach Chot Reyes.

During the first half, the Gilas Pilipinas committed some mistakes and made a dismal performance ending the first half behind with 3 points against PBA All Stars at 38-41. Coach Chot benched his top point guard Jason Castro after he committed five turn0vers, only Gilas team captain Jimmy Alapag set the team on the right course.

The Gilas Pilipinas were leading by just four points after three quaters, but Gilas went on a 27-4 run in the fourth quarter capped by back-to-back three-pointers from Larry Fonacier and Ranidel De Ocampo and break the game wide open in favor of Gilas Pilipinas.

According to Coach Chot Reyes he hopes that the game against the PBA All Stars will served as a wake up call for the national team as the highly-anticipated FIBA Asia Championships approaches.
