Former Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile confirmed that he would run to become the leader of the new opposition in the chamber, not as Senate President but as imminent new minority bloc in Senate.
According to Enrile, he had already informed the minority bloc of the Senate to his decision to run for Senate President for the Minority. He stated that he will join the minority group when it meets again probably this week.
Senator Enrile was quoted saying that,:
“I told them that I have opted to become an opposition and I’m going to aspire as Minority Floor Leader,” Enrile said in a television interview last Monday.
“I will submit my name as a candidate for Senate President in order to (–foul word(s) removed–)ume the role of a Minority Leader,” he added.
The former Senate President (–foul word(s) removed–)ured that as the new minority bloc in the Senate, he reiterated that they would become, “responsible,” not “destructive” or obstuctionist.”
