Gilas Pilipinas New Zealand Schedule Revealed

The National Basketball Team of the Philippines, Gilas Pilipinas, is set to undergo a 10-day training camp in New Zealand as part of their preparations for the FIBA Asia Championship to be held in Manila this coming August.

The team is composed of the same players who went to Lithuania camp and they will depart this coming Tuesday, July 9, 2013. A day after their arrival they will buckle down for training at Napier, New Zealand.

Gilas Pilipinas will be having a five-day training camp with former New Zealand national team coach Tab Baldwin, who also helmed the national teams of Lebanon and Jordan.

The National Team’s training camp in New Zealand’s highlight will be an exhibition game against various NBL teams on July 12, 13, and 14, 2013. According to Coach Chot Reyes, during their training, they will have a twice a day practice if there’s is no game schedule.

If the team will be having a scheduled game with an NBL team, there will be practice in the morning and game in the evening. On July 15, & 17, they will travel to Wellington to play for another NBL teams and finally on July 17, they will play the New Zealand National Team, the Tall Blacks at Auckland.

The team will return to the Philippines to continue their training and preparations on July 19, 2013.
