NU Lady Bulldogs Wins First Shakey’s V-League Title Against Ateneo

The National University Women’s Volleyball Team captured the title of the recently concluded Shakey’s V-League crown, after they dethroned the back-to-back champion Ateneo Lady Eagles held on Sunday at the Philsports Arena.

The NU Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Eagles, 25-23, 25-19, 17-25, 26-24, their first-ever title in any big tournament in more than 50 years. The team won major title during the 1956 and 1957 UAAp Women’s Volleyball tournaments.

NU Bulldogs’ superstar Dindin Santiago finished with 17 points and eventually captured the Shakey’s V-League Most Valuable Player. NU Bulldogs Myla Pablo and Carmina Aganon made 13 points apiece while Jaja Santiago scored with 12 points for NU. De Leon finished with 13 markers, from six spikes, three blocks and four service aces, and was named Finals MVP.

Meanwhile the Ateneo Lady Eagles scores came from Alyssa Valdez with 16 points, Jeng Bualee and Rachel Ann Daquis had 15 apiece and Fille Cainglet with 10 points.
