The Philippine National Basketball Team Smart Gilas Pilipinas defeated the Mouttahed Tripoli of Lebanon with the final score of 79-77, to start their campaign in Dubai on a high note.
The Smart Gilas Pilipinas was considered by West Asian countries as one of the top contenders of the 24th Dubai International Basketball Tournament held in UAE.
Veteran Smart Gilas player Marcus Douthit led the Nationals with a total of 20 points and 10 rebounds. He was supported very well by Garbo Lanete who made an impressive performance pouring out 15 points.
The Philippines were down by as much as 15 points during the early start of the game but came back and grabbed the halftime lead with 41-40 in favor of Smart Gilas.
