Singapore Defeated Thailand Won AFF Suzuki Cup

The Singapore Lions captured the highly-coveted title as the 2012 AFF Suzuki Cup crown after they defeated Thailand with aggregate score of 3-2. Despite losing the second leg of the finals to Thailand with 1-nil score card, the Singaporeans brought home the title.

The Thais were trailing behind 3-1 from the first leg in Singapore, they dominated the second leg but was not able to score more than 1 goal to capture the title.

The 3-2 aggregate victory of Singapore over Thailand matched the scoreline of the 2007 finals between the two teams. The Singaporean lifted the trophy at the Supachalasai Stadium on Saturday in front of the Thai home crowd.

The Serbian coach of Singapore Radojko Avramovic stated that his team deserved to win over the two legs and reclaimed their glory as the best Asean football team. He also appreciate the determination of the opposing team for giving them the hard-earned win.

Abramovic also confirmed that the final match against Thailand would be his last game as a head coach of Singapore. He took over the Lions from 2003 and led the team to consecutive Asean titles in 2004 and 2007.
