Azkals vs. Singapore Leg 2 Preview Dec. 12

The Philippines vs. Singapore Leg 2 match will be held today at the Jalan Besar Stadium, one of the home court of the Singapore Lions.

After a goal less draw during the first leg of the AFF Suzuki Cup Semi-finals held in the Philippines, the Azkals are now raring to go for a goal and a possible ticket to their first-ever finals appearance in the phenomenal regional football competition.

Both teams are currently on the same level although the Singaporean have dominated the tournament three times previously but the Philippines rise through their back-to-back semi-finals appearance is an indication that they are a team to reckoned with.

According to Azkals’ coach Weiss, he needs his players to step up their defense as the Lions are expected to play aggressive on their home turf. He is also confident that some of his players have already recovered from injuries.

Those who are expected to return 100% are defender Jason Sabio, midfielder Chris Greatwich and striker Denis Wolf. Danish-Filipino Jerry Lucena will be back in action also beefing up the midfield. Dennis Cagara will also reunite with the team and hopefully could recovered from jet lag as early as possible.

Meanwhile the Singapore Lions coach Avramovic wants his players to adopt the same approach that saw them dominate the opening half in Manila. He was confident that with the experience and the 12th man rallying behind them on their home game will bring them to the Finals of the AFF Suzuki Cup.
