The Smart Gilas Pilipinas will face one of their toughest opponent in the competition, the Western Asian powerhouse Iran in the semi-finals of the FIBA Asia Cup 2012.
The Iranians have easily made it to the next round after they were able to demolished the lowly Uzbekistan team on their quarterfinal match-up and maintained their unbeaten record in the tournament.
Their scheduled outing against the Philippines is one of their highly-anticipated match-up as the Iranians were eager to depend not only their previous title but also their heartbreaking loss against the Filipinos during the 34th Jones Cup in Taiwan.
