Amazon’s Kindle Fire Taps Nokia for Native Maps Apps

Amazon, one of world’s largest online retailers will going to release the latest version of Kindle, it’s best-selling tablet. The company have now joined forces with cellular phone giants, Nokia for the integration of native map apps on its devices.

Nokia and Amazon joined hands for mapping service in its new line of Kindle Fire tablets. Amazon have teamed-up with Nokia for a native mapping app because of the expertise of the company after it acquired Navteq in 2007, one of the world’s largest mapping companies.

Although the original Kindle Fire runs on Google Android operating system, consumers would probably expect that Google Maps will also run on Kindle Fire but the company have chosen Nokia instead.

Kindle Fire users can still access Google Maps via the web browser but it was not an integrated app.

The mapping capabilities now offered by Kindle Fire will allow its users for enhanced street maps, local business information and many more uses of the native maps app from Nokia.

The original Fire is a 7-inch tablet with 8 GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi connectivity and the Android operating system all for $199.

Meanwhile Amazon is expected to announce one of the new versions of its Kindle Fire next Thursday.According to some rumored reports the Kindle Fire has an external volume control and a 1280×800 resolution.
