Jason Day is a Filipino-Australian professional player who  made his mark in the world of golf by becoming the first Fil-Aussie player having won two straight runner-up to the golfing world’s most popular Majors. He was second in 2011 Majors and now and now a  second-runner-up to McIlroy for the recently concluded US Open.

The 23-year-old Fil-Aussie was one of the highly anticipated personalities during the 2011 US Open. He turned professional in the year 2006. With his two consecutive wins, his ranking now climbed to the top 10 in professional golfing updated rankings. He ranked right now at number 8. He was Australia’s most-prized golfer.

Jason Day was born in Queensland, Australia to a Filipino mother named Dening, ang an Australian father Alvin who had met through letters and both worked as meat workers in Queensland. He had two siblings, Yanna and Kim. At the young age of 12 his father p(–foul word(s) removed–)ed away leaving him with his mother.

With the tragedy that struck Jason’s family he was lost and gone astray. He got unto trouble by drinking, partying and staying out late. His mother was so disappointed with his behavior so he was sent to a golf academy in the Gold Coast after seeing the potential of Jason.

During his stay at the golf academy, one thing that change his perception about golf when he read the biography of the greatest teen age golfer, an Asian-American named Tiger Woods. At the age of 15, he was put back on track to pursue his dreams of becoming a number one golfer not only in Australia but also in the world.

The motivation and inspiration he found leads him to numerous titles in Australia, he was able to purchase his own car, buy a house in Florida and paid the mortgage of his mother’s house in Australia. With the achievement he was enjoying he was always reminded by the kind of love and care accorded to him by his Filipina mother.

Jason Day had slowly but surely made a mark in the sport of golf, although always overshadowed by the popularity of the winner during his two major finals appearance, the performance of the Fil-Aussie was superb. He even received from several sportswriters a Tiger Woods comparison, at the age of 23 he was able to achieved some of his dreams.

Jason Day was not able to provide a serious threat to McIlroy during the US Open for McIlroy had broken some golfing world records. Now he is determined to avenged his lost and win the championship for the coming Australian Open to be held in November, his first time to compete in the event.
