June 19 marks the birth of the Philippine National Hero, Dr Jose Rizal. This year, the Filipino community will be able to celebrate his 150th birth anniversary.

On Sunday marks the anniversary of Rizal’s birth. In this regard, the people of his hometown, Laguna, prepared a huge statue that is set to be uncovered tomorrow. This is to commemorate the birth of the national hero of the Philippines.

The statue of Rizal was noted to stand 22-foot and was made of bronze. It is recognized as the tallest Rizal statue standing amidst Calamba City, Laguna where Rizal was born.

Based on what Peter Capitan has stated, the building of the statue began last year. Capitan is known to be the Information Officer of Calamba City. He also added that millions of pesos were already spent to be able to construct Rizal’s statue. It stands on a lot which is 6.9 hectares close to the City Hall of Calamba.

Benigno Aquino III, the country’s 15th president will be presiding to unveil the Rizal’s statue tomorrow. He will also be anticipated to participate on the flag-raising activity and he will likewise give a Rizal Day speech which will be held at the Rizal Shrine.

Meanwhile, the local officials organized a civic-military parade with 22 floats along with at least 5,000 citizens. Concerts will also be held for free in celebration of Rizal Day.
