Sam Faust Former Cowboys Player Dies at 26 in Leukemia

Sam Faust, who is a former football forward player under ‘North Queensland NRL’ died in leukemia at the age of 26 in Townsville on Monday morning May 23, 2011.

During his energetic time, Faust played in the year 2007-2008 in 24 matches under supervision of the Cowboys before he stopped his football career after he was diagnosed in 2009 with acute myeloid leukemia that caused his premature death.

Several months ago, there was an initiative from NRL players and rugby league community to raise funds to support Faust for his medical treatment to US.

According to the chief executive of North Queensland Peter Jourdain, Faust was a good football player and talented, and fine young man. The Cowboys as well as the entire Rugby League Community were sad with the news about his death.

Jourdain thanked all of the financial support raising fund for medical treatment since Faust received his diagnosed.

Cowboys together with their general manager Peter Parr will be paying tribute to the late football player. “He will be best remembered during their run in 2007 finals. He has contributed a lot to the game to reach the grand final”, said Parr.
