“Clamp Down Order” Imposed by Aquino in Samar after the Killing of Mayor Reynaldo Uy

President Aquino Imposed "Clamp Down" in Samar province

Last Sunday, President Aquino ordered the police to “Clamp Down” on the whole province of Samar to prevent further violence to occur, after the killing of  politician mayor in Calbayog,  Reynaldo Uy. He died last saturday night after he was shot by a lone gunman in Hinabangan Town.

President Aquino come up with this order, considering Samar’s tradition of violence in the past years.  He directed Director General Raul Bacalzo of Philippine National Police to make sure that they clamp down in the whole province to prevent any violence to occur.

The order was confirmed by president Aquino in the statement he gave to the media, after attending  a labor day breakfast meeting together with labor leaders held in Malacañang.

Aquino also added that he already imposed to Raul Bacalzo to conduct a fast investigation and arrest those people behind the dastardly act.

Calbayog mayor Reynaldo Uy and other officials were shot by a gunman while they were bowing their heads for an invocation during a cultural presentation held at a covered court in Calbayog, Samar.

In addition, Aquino described the act as “treachery”.

President Aquino explained that he dont want this violence to be the root of another violence. He (–foul word(s) removed–)ured the people in Calbayog that he already mandated the police and Armed forces to exert their maximum effort to ensure that the clampdown in the province will be imposed and there will be no further violence to happen.

He also reminded all the regional directors, provincial director and the various chief police that he is keeping an eye to them and monitoring their every actions so they better perform well.

Uy died hours after he was brought to the hospital last Sunday, one of his board member sitting beside him during the incident was also wounded by the same bullet that hit him.
