Prince William is set to marry Kate Middleton on Friday and everyone gets excited to witness their royal wedding. Each wedding detail has been significantly prepared from flowers, cakes, wedding invitations, the bridal gown, and even the paths to take for the couple to greet the crowd in London, England.

But of course, the world will become more enthusiastic to see the Prince and the soon-to-be-princess march on their royal wedding if they know how their love story had started.

In a small Scottish town, William and Kate met each other in September 2001 where both have been students at the University of St. Andrews. After his few days the university, Prince William already set his sight on Kate because of her long loose hair and smooth velvety complexion.

It was in March 2002 when Kate was spotted to participate in a charity fashion show that the university students have organized. At that moment, William had been willing to pay £200 just to be seated on the front row and watch Kate wearing black bikini while walking down the runway.

From the original college hall of residence, William and Kate both moved in a house situated in Fife in September of 2002. Their relationship hasn’t caught the attention of the Royal Family but Kate had been acknowledged due to successive charity activities that she was known to be involved with.

In June 2003, Prince William denied to the media that he had already got a girlfriend saying that he wasn’t serious about anyone that time. Behind his denial were moments that William and Kate have been caught on camera as they were spotted to enjoy playing the game called rugby weeks after the prince was interviewed.

On following year, the two were caught in a famous Switzerland resort skiing together during the holiday in March. It was the time when the prince made a statement that he didn’t want to get married until he reaches the age of 28 or 30.

Prince William and Kate Middleton eventually graduated in University of St. Andrews in June 2005 where both of their families were there to participate in the congratulatory luncheon with the two. During their graduation ceremony, Queen Elizabeth II was also there to witness such significant event. Reporters even published the said event describing that the “the Queen came to see her future granddaughter-in-law”.

William had once studied at a military academy. On a graduation ceremony in December 2006, Kate was there and the people used to say that she had been a “princess-in-waiting”. She was even called as “Queen Kate” for some.

Just like any other relationships, the William and Kate also came across with some adversities that they decided to peacefully split due to the reason that Prince William prioritized his military life believing that it was yet so early for him to get married back then. Rumors rise and news began to spread that William had been involved with other girls.

Because of love, the pair was able to conquer their conflicts as they gave way for a second chance to build up their relationship once again. In June 2007, they decided to spend a meaningful holiday together so they flew to Desroches Island.

In April 2008, William graduated in a Royal Air Force and Kate was there to witness an important event for William’s life. She as nicknamed a “Waity Kate” for most British people since they believed that Kate was made to wait for William’s commitment for marriage.

For about eight years of courtship, humble Prince William and beautiful Kate Middleton got engaged. The two went on a private holiday in Kenya in October 2010 making it the best time for the prince to speak about his marriage proposal. As a gift, Prince William gave Kate the engagement ring of his mother, Diana. When they returned in London, it was then that their engagement was publicly announced.

About a month after their engagement, Prince William and Miss Kate Middleton finally confirmed the date of their wedding which will be on April 29, 2011.

The first release of their royal wedding invitation was sent in February 20, 2011.

In this modern day, it is rare to experience a love story seemingly like that of a fairy-tale. But for Prince William and Kate Middleton, a fairytale-like love story still exists in this real world.
