DFA Secretary Ask Libyan Ministers to Help Filipinos Out From Libya

Many Filipinos are in danger in Libya today. They were trapped by fights happening in the Libyan country. Two Libyan ministers were on the meeting with Secretary Alberto Del Rosario to talk about the situation of the Filipinos in their territory. They were discussing the safeties and welfare of our fellowmen which were currently trapped in their country.

One of the ministers that Secretary Del Rosario had in meeting was Foreign Minister Adelati Obeidi. Secretary Del Rosario ask the minister if he could help him reach out those Filipinos said to be about 100 of them situated in the area of Misurata. Misurata is the place where there is continuing conflict between the Libyan government and rebel forces. Del Rosario also asked to help him taking out those Filipinos who are longing to leave the area.

In answer to Del Rosario’s request, Obeidi made a promise with him. He said he will take the responsibility to seek help from some personnel of the United Nations in taking out the Filipinos within the perimeter of Misurata.

Sec. Del Rosario also met with a Health Minister in Libya named Mohammed Hijaze. Hijaze proudly said to DFA Secretary that the Filipino were said to be the best hospital workers there in Libya.

After the meetings with different Libyan ministers, Del Rosario proceeds to Misurata and Tripoli to help the Filipinos working in the place to go home if they wish so. He was doing this as President Benigno S. Aquino III ordered his appointed department to (–foul word(s) removed–)ure that not even one Filipino must be left behind in Libya.

It was said there are already 28 Filipinos who will fly out from Djerba in Libya on Monday. Another group of 6 professional Filipinos will be joining them. These 6 Filipinos includes 5 nurses and 1 engineer which were lately trapped in a town near Misurata and were rescued by the reaction team of the Philippine Emb(–foul word(s) removed–)y and brought to Tripoli.
