Releasing of Social Pensions for Senior Citizens in Davao starts in June

Social pensions intended for indigent senior citizens will be distributed on June 2011 as confirmed by the Social Pension Management Office in Davao.

Reports said that every pensioner will be able to receive cash which amounts to P1, 500 through the Land Bank of the Philippines. The Social Pension Management Office had (–foul word(s) removed–)igned officers that will be in-charge for the disbursements.

The release of the said pensions is an additional benefit for the indigent senior citizens in accordance to the Republic Act 9994 better known to be Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.

Only selected senior citizens are privileged to avail of the said benefit as stated by the (–foul word(s) removed–)istant Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development named Priscilla Razon.

Razon said that the opportunity will only be granted to senior citizens, whose age belongs to the bracket of 77 years old and up. Thus, not all of the senior citizens will be given the cash benefit.

Meanwhile, it was also specified that those who receive a monthly pension from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Social Security System (SSS) as well as those who had finished their term serving in the Armed Forces of the Philippines are exempted.
