2 Dead, 3 Missing when a Flash flood hit Compostela Valley

Flash flood followed after a hurricane hit Compostela Valley.

Hurricane and flashflood strike a village situated in Compostela Valley which killed a four-year-old girl and a man Thursday night.

Kristine Berunguis was recognized to be the lone fatality as recognized by the Compostela Valley Police Provincial Director, Sr. Supt. Aaron Aquino. Her dead body was found in the village of Bukal in the town of Nabunturan. It had been recovered Friday at about 6 a.m. according to Sr. Supt. Aquino.

Meanwhile, three siblings of the young girl were reported missing according to the reports given by the police official.

They were the seven year old Princess Mae Berunguis, six-year-old Recil Berunguis along with a nine-month-old infant Angel Berunguis. Nevertheless, their parents, Rico and Maricel, suffered minor injuries.

On the other hand, a miner named Pablo Tibay, 59, was identified to be the man who was also found dead.

The victims were already sleeping when the hurricane and flashflood hit the said place.

Sr. Supt. Aquino has said that when the flash flood occurred, two houses were caught within the sub-village. The flash flood took place after the hurricane had strike.

At present, Aquino reported that authorities of the local community currently conduct search and rescue operations in the affected area to locate the missing individuals.
