Myanmar officials reported that death toll was raised to at least 75 when a 6.8 magnitude earthquake hit Myanmar Thursday.

Houses were toppled due to a strong impact of the 6.8 magnitude measured by the US Geological Survey (USGS).

It was announced this Friday that the earthquake was noted to take away 74 lives along with 110 individuals counted to be injured in the areas near its epicenter.

244 Houses were toppled while over 240 buildings had been collapsed that included the damage of 14 Buddhist monasteries and 9 government-owned structures.

Victims in the village of Mong Lin went through severe damages based on the information handed by the official of the World Food Program of the UN. A local radio station of the said country announced that a total of 29 people have been killed and 16 were listed to be injured in the said location alone.

Whereas in Tarlay town, 15 houses have been destroyed and an information has been gathered that 11 have died and 29 were wounded. The hospital situated in the said city had also been damaged as a result of their difficulty with regards to the admission of the earthquake victims.

In Tachileik, there had been a four year old boy who was included among those who have died from the earthquake while a woman in Mae Sai also died when a wall had fallen on her.

The rural areas of Myanmar belong to those of the poorest countries in Asia having underdeveloped buildings and slow move of communications. This is the reason why there were only few rescuers who were able to respond in the said disaster.

While dozens of victims came to suffer due to the said Myanmar earthquake, many buildings and churches had also been affected.
