Google Launched Person Finder Service for Earthquake Victims

Victims of earthquake in Japan are being helped by Google through launching a version of Person finder service.

This service of Google has been proven to be useful for so many times in locating and gathering information about the victims of different disaster.

Google aids earthquake victims in Japan through its Person Finder website that functions as a directory or message board where people can post information of the victims’ whereabouts or current condition or look for someone.

It is embedded on websites and other network sites to extend to as many people as possible and it has been very helpful to people searching for their loved ones.

During its first hours, more than 4,000 records have been logged by the Japan Quake Person Finder.

Before this service has been available, authorities have been having difficulty in matching the information’s that has been gathered by the different Agencies. This has resulted to longer time in re-uniting families and friends of the victims.

Although the range of damage caused by the Japanese earthquake is still undetermined; the destructions brought by the ensuing tsunami is anticipated to reach thousands displaced.

Basic information’s are found in the site including the description of the people who are lost and messages of those who have survived and wanted to inform their love ones about their condition.

In times of such disaster many are volunteering to help especially in other countries by scraping information from other sites and add it to the people finder database. Some are going to some blogs to find some information and post it in the database.

Google developed the Person Finder in order to solve the problems in gathering information about the victims after many catastrophes struck as it was used this 2011 in the aftermath of New Zealand earthquake.
