$1,000 for the Twelve ‘Rights Victims’ under Marcos Regime

Twelve human rights victim during the twenty years of regime of Former President Ferdinand Marcos would be receiving $1000 or P 43,000.00 as compensation for the abused that they’d been through.

The amount to be given came from the wealth of the Marcos’s, amounting to $10-million, and there was a number of 7,526 victims excluding the 12 who will be the first to have the compensation that will be given by Tuesday at the Commission of Human Rights.

The victims had been through various form of execution in the form of torture, summary execution and political har(–foul word(s) removed–)ments during his 20 years of ruling the Philippines. The victims who had received the compensation became emotional. Emotions outburst due to the fact that at the end, justice was held, and the people responsible were punished.

The whole process was long and many years were waited in order for the release of the payment.

Marcos regime was so far the longest in the history of the Philippine Government and those years were marked with many notable events and stories that change the lives and views of the people. To name a few, it was in Marcos administration when Martial Law took place as well as the People Power, putting the Philippines into the world’s history.
